Our founder, Joseph Pao, was the son of a Shanghai industrialist who studied electronic engineering at Southampton University. He started the company in 1963 working from a mews garage in Paddington, London to supply Chinese restaurants, and within a few years was supplying the major UK supermarkets.

Today, half a century since its foundation, J. Pao & Co. Ltd continues its success story run by Andrew, Joseph’s son. We are the largest UK grower and processor of Beansprouts, operating under one roof in a state-of-the-art facility in Park Royal, London. Meticulous attention to detail at every stage of production ensures our produce is consistently of the highest quality.

Every week, we produce over 250 tonnes of Beansprouts. Our production process is highly responsive to market needs, operating 7 days a week, 365 days a year to ensure the freshest possible product and optimal shelf life.


It is the intention of J. Pao & Co. Ltd. to be the number one supplier of Beansprouts to the UK retail, catering and food processing sectors.
